EF Gavels Club
Following the success of the EF Toastmasters club, there have been several requests from the members to take a similar initiative for the children of Engineers Forum and EF Toastmasters members.EF Toastmasters took up the challenge and announced the formation of a Gavel Club for the benefit of the children of EF and EF Toastmaster members. The first meeting of the club was held on 23.12.2012.
All children between the age group of 12 to 18 years of age are eligible to join the club. It is affiliated with Toastmasters International. The purpose of the Gavel Club is to help its members improve their abilities to communicate effectively
The program offers its members instructions, educational materials, and opportunities which will give them skill and experience in the preparation and delivery of speeches, this will encourage the members to read and listen analytically.
EF Toastmasters felt that the evaluations of the efforts towards self-improvement and the rules of parliamentary procedures followed in the meetings will increase knowledge and improve skills of children in conducting meetings. Participating in group discussions affords leadership training which ultimately provides opportunities for the members to appear before an audience and to express their thoughts convincingly. The meetings are conducted twice a month. The day of the week and time were decided based on the general convenience of the members.
